Plant Embryology
Plant embryology is the branch of botany/plant science that studies the formation and development of the embryo in seed plants. The embryo is the form in which the seedling of a plant first appears. Understanding plant embryology is important because it provides insight into the genetic and environmental factors that affect the development of a plant. This information can be used to develop better crop varieties and improve agricultural productivity. Additionally, plant embryology can also be used to improve our understanding of the evolution of plants, as well as to inform conservation efforts.
