Plant Disease Resistance
Plant disease resistance refers to a plant's ability to defend itself against pathogenic organisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses. This can be achieved naturally, through genetic means, or artificially, through the use of chemicals, biological control methods and other means. Plant disease resistance offers several advantages, including improved crop yields, reduced use of pesticides and better quality of produce. It is also a cost-effective way to reduce losses caused by disease outbreaks. Plant disease resistance can be improved through breeding and integrated pest management practices. By combining resistant varieties, proper crop rotation and judicious use of pesticides, farmers can reduce losses to disease significantly.
