Plant Developmental and Cell Biology
Plant Developmental and Cell Biology is the study of the physical and molecular processes that control plant growth, development and cell differentiation. It encompasses the study of plant development from the molecular level (genes, proteins and metabolites) to the level of the whole organism (stems, leaves, flowers and fruits). This research helps us to understand how plants respond to their environment, how they are adapted to different climates and how they can be used as a resource for human needs. Additionally, it provides insight into the mechanisms of evolution and diseases in plants. Plant Developmental and Cell Biology has a range of applications, including crop improvement, biotechnology, genetic engineering, bioprospecting and pharmaceuticals.
