Phloem
Phloem is a tissue comprising vascular cells, which transports nutrients and organic substances between different cells and organs in plants. It is essential for photosynthesis and growth, as it helps to transfer the metabolites from the leaves to other parts of the plant, such as the flowers and fruits. Phloem is also important for food storage, as it allows the plant to store carbohydrates and sugars in the form of sucrose. This contributes to the plant's ability to survive environmental stresses, such as drought. Phloem is thus essential for the growth and survival of most plants.
