Petals

Petals are the parts of a flower that are often brightly colored, serving to attract pollinators. Petals are typically located outside of the center of the flower in a whorled arrangement. Petals also play an important role in nectar production, which is essential for pollinator visits to the flower. Petals also provide protection for the more delicate reproductive organs, such as the reproductive organs of the ovules and anthers. As petals come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, they are an important tool for taxonomists and botanists to identify the different species of flowering plants.
