Oomycetes
Oomycetes are a type of aquatic fungi that are commonly referred to as water molds. They are important members of the microbial food web and play a vital role in aquatic ecosystems, providing essential nutrients and energy to other aquatic organisms. Oomycetes also play a critical role in the global biogeochemical cycles, specifically carbon and nitrogen cycling. Oomycetes have a wide range of applications, including biodegradation of pollutants, bioremediation of contaminated ecosystems, DNA analysis and more. They have also been used in crop protection, as well as in the production of biofuels.
