Monocotyledons
Monocotyledons are flowering plants that are characterized by having only one seed leaf (or cotyledon) in their embryos. They are one of the two major groups of flowering plants, and include grasses, palms, lilies, orchids, and other plants. Monocotyledons have a number of important economic uses and provide a range of environmental benefits. They are used in food production to produce crops such as wheat and corn, are used to make fabrics and paper, and are used as ornamentals to decorate gardens and parks. In addition, they also play an important role in the environment by providing habitat for wildlife, preventing soil erosion, and helping to regulate air quality. Monocotyledons are essential for a healthy, sustainable planet.
