Molecular Plant Pathology
Molecular plant pathology is the study of plant diseases at the molecular level. It involves the investigation of the genetic, biochemical and physiological processes underlying the interaction between parasites and the hosts that they affect. This field of research has become increasingly important for understanding and controlling plant diseases. Molecular plant pathology has allowed for the identification and characterization of the genes and proteins involved in the infection process, so that more effective strategies can be applied for disease management. It also provides insights into the evolution of plant pathogens, which can help in the discovery of new disease-resistant crops. In addition, molecular techniques are increasingly being used to develop novel microbial agents for pest control and the development of sustainable agriculture.
