Gymnosperms

Gymnosperms are a group of seed-producing plants, including conifers, cycads, ginkgo, and gnetophytes. They are characterized by their naked seeds – that is, they do not have a fleshy fruit covering their seeds like angiosperms. Gymnosperms have a wide global distribution and are important sources of timber and resins, such as pine and spruce, for human use. They are also important for biodiversity, providing habitats for animals and a source of food in some areas. Additionally, many species have medicinal or dietary uses due to their unique chemical characteristics.
