Floral Development
Floral development involves the formation of flowers from plant meristems. It is an important process in the life cycle of plants because flowers are the organs which bear reproductive organs and allow for sexual reproduction. Floral development is also important for crop production as flowers are the organs responsible for seed production. Floral development is regulated by a variety of environmental and genetic factors, such as temperature, light, and hormones. Understanding floral development and its regulation is critical for successful crop management and breeding, as well as for the management of ornamental plants.
