Drought

resistance Drought resistance is the ability of a plant to tolerate extended periods of dryness. It is an important trait for plants that must live in arid or semi-arid climates. Drought resistant plants have adapted to surviving with limited water availability. The drought resistance of plants can be improved through breeding and genetic engineering. This has the potential to enable plants to be grown in areas with limited water resources, increasing the global food supply, while reducing water use and protecting the environment. It can also make crops more resilient in the face of climate change.
