Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts are organelles found in plants and some algae. These organelles are responsible for the process of photosynthesis, where light energy from the sun is converted into useable chemical energy to fuel the organism. Chloroplasts are the powerhouse of plant cells, and without them, plants would not be able to survive. Chloroplasts are essential for life on Earth, as they provide a renewable energy source and help foster the growth of other living things, from bacteria to humans.
