Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a green pigment that plays a key role in photosynthesis for energy production in plants. It is the molecule that absorbs sunlight to convert carbon dioxide gas and water into energy-rich molecules like glucose. Chlorophyll is essential for plants to thrive and grow and is also the source of a plant’s green color. Without it, plants would not be able to make food and could not survive. Chlorophyll is also important for humans as it can boost our levels of energy, detoxify our body, and improve our digestive processes. Along with being beneficial for humans, it is also useful in farming, such as helping to improve crop yields, and in green chemistry, to create clean, renewable energy sources.
