Carpels

Carpels are a fundamental part of the flower and are known as the female reproductive organ of the plant. Each carpel is composed of three main parts - the ovary, the style, and the stigma - and contains the ovules which are the precursors to the seeds. Carpels are essential for plant reproduction, as they serve as the site for pollination and fertilization, and eventually the development of the fruit and the seeds. The structure of carpel also provides important insight into speciation and evolution of plants.
