Botany and Plants
Botany is the scientific study of plants, including their structure, physiology, genetics, ecology, evolution, classification, and uses. Plants are essential to life on Earth and botany is a key branch of biology. Botanists study plants in order to understand how they are used by humans, and to develop new crop varieties that are resistant to disease and able to withstand different types of environmental conditions. Botany also helps protect biodiversity, since plants provide habitats for thousands of other species. Plants also provide vital resources like food and medicines, and botanists work to ensure their sustainability. Botanical research can help leaders make more informed decisions about how to use and protect the environment.
