Bacteriocins
Bacteriocins are small proteins produced by friendly bacteria to attack and kill other bacteria. They are part of our natural defense against disease and are important elements in keeping our ecosystems balanced. They have potential uses in food preservation, controlling bacterial infections, and in medical treatments and research. Bacteriocins are a promising form of natural antibiotics, providing hope for a new generation of treatments for bacterial infections.
