Agronomy and Horticulture

Agronomy and horticulture are the science and practice of growing and cultivating crops, plants and trees, as well as managing and improving soil fertility, water quality and other soil resources. They are an integral component of sustainable food production and are essential for healthy and productive ecosystems. Agronomy and horticulture involve the study of soil science, plant genetics and physiology, plant nutrition, plant pathology, weed science and other related disciplines. They are widely used to produce food, fiber and materials for commercial and industrial purposes, as well as for the conservation of the environment. Through research and application of agronomy and horticulture, sustainable land management and agricultural production can be achieved.
