Nanophotonics

Nanophotonics is a subfield of optics and nanoscience which applies the principles of photonics to structures and materials at nanometer-scale. Nanophotonics is concerned with the manipulation, control and confinement of light at nanoscale dimensions and the interaction between this light and nanoscale materials and structures. Thanks to nanophotonics, we can study and control the behaviour of light on a nanometer scale, enabling a wide range of applications. These include nanoscale light sources and detectors, imaging and diagnostic tools, optical computing, photonic integrated circuits and ultrafast optical communication. Nanophotonics has the potential to revolutionize fields such as energy efficiency, healthcare, and telecommunications.
