Leukocyte Signaling
Leukocytes are the major defense cells of the human body and are integral to the immune system. Leukocyte signaling occurs when leukocytes respond to stimuli and trigger a response, such as inflammation or the release of chemical messengers. This signaling process is essential for the body to be able to effectively fend off and fight infections, disease, and other threats. Leukocyte signaling is also important in wound healing, in the development of the immune system, and in regulating other cell responses. The better understanding of leukocyte signaling can help scientists better diagnose diseases, create new treatments, and combat immunodeficiencies.
