Leukemias
Leukemias are cancerous blood disorders that involve white blood cells called leukocytes. They are caused by uncontrolled reproduction of immature cells which can crowd out healthy blood cells, leading to serious health complications. Leukemias, especially chronic myeloid leukemia, are primarily treated with targeted therapies like tyrosine kinase inhibitors, interferon, and chemotherapy. Treatment options depend on the type and stage of leukemia, and the age and general health of the patient. With timely diagnosis and treatment, the prognosis for patients suffering from leukemias is generally good.
