Leucocytes
Leucocytes (also known as white blood cells) are a type of cell that play an important role in the functioning of the human immune system. They are key components of the body's defense against infections, by attacking and destroying foreign invaders, such as bacteria and viruses. They are also important in helping to repair tissue that has been damaged by infection or another environmental factor. Leucocytes are often seen as an indicator of overall health, as an increase in the number of these cells can be a sign of a disease or infection. From a medical perspective, leucocytes can be used to diagnose illnesses, monitor response to treatments and measure levels of inflammation in the body.
