Basal Cell Carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer. It is caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun or other sources, such as tanning beds. BCC appears as a small, slow-growing, waxy bump or flat area on the skin that may look like a white or pink scar. It can range in size from very small to huge and can spread to other parts of the body if left untreated. Treatment usually involves surgery, radiation or topical creams. Early detection and treatment is key to preventing BCC from spreading and becoming more serious.
