Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. It is a rapidly progressing form of cancer that usually starts in the myeloid line of blood cells, which are immature white blood cells. Symptoms include fatigue, weight loss, shortness of breath, bleeding, and fever. The disease can be fatal if not treated quickly. Treatment typically involves chemotherapy and/or a bone marrow transplant. AML is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults and can be treated if caught in time. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can improve the chances of remission and long term survival.
