Resistin
Resistin is a hormone produced in the body by cells known as adipocytes. It is a key player in the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. In addition, it has been linked to obesity, inflammation, and other metabolic diseases. Resistin has uses in research and medical fields in various ways. Its role in the body can be studied with genetic tests to identify individuals at risk of developing metabolic diseases. It could also be used as a marker to monitor the progress of metabolic diseases and to guide treatment decisions. Furthermore, resistin levels in the blood can be used as an indicator of obesity. Research on resistin can also lead to new insights in the understanding of metabolic disorders and possibly the development of treatments.
