Pharmacodynamics
Pharmacodynamics is the branch of pharmacology that studies the effects of drugs on living organisms and their mechanisms of action, which involves understanding how a drug interacts with the body, how it is taken up, distributed and eliminated, and how it acts on the body at the molecular, cellular and organ system levels. It is critical in assessing the safety and efficacy of drugs in order to effectively design, administer, and monitor therapeutic agents. Pharmacodynamics provides a scientific basis for therapeutic drug selection and can help inform patient-specific dosing strategies that are tailored to individual needs.
