Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes that occur within living organisms. It involves the understanding of the structure and function of cellular components, such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids. It is a dynamic and rapidly growing field, with applications to many aspects of life, from nutrition and health to biotechnology and medicine. Its importance lies in its ability to identify and investigate the biochemical pathways and interactions between molecules that drive life, from the smallest cells to complex organisms. Biochemistry has helped to uncover the causes of numerous diseases, and has been used to develop new treatments and preventative measures. Additionally, biochemistry has played an integral role in advancing related fields such as pharmacology, nutrition, genetics, and molecular biology.
