Trochanteric Bursitis

Trochanteric Bursitis is a condition caused by inflammation and swelling of the trochanteric bursa, which is a small fluid-filled sac located near the hip joint. It typically causes pain and tenderness in the outer hip, known as the greater trochanter, which can make even everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs, and getting in and out of vehicles difficult. This condition is commonly seen in people who are active or have certain medical conditions, such as osteoarthritis or recurrent hip injuries. Treatment usually involves rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and sometimes corticosteroid injections. Surgery is reserved for cases in which conservative treatment has failed. Trochanteric Bursitis can be prevented by avoiding repetitive activities that place extra stress on the hip joint, as well as practicing good posture, stretching exercises, and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle.
