Trauma
Trauma is the body's response to a physical or psychological injury. It is a normal, necessary response to pain and danger, but when it is severe or long-lasting, coping with the trauma can be difficult. The body's response to trauma has been studied and can now be effectively treated by specialized mental health professionals. Trauma is important to recognize and address as it can manifest in physical and psychological symptoms and interfere with how a person functions in their daily life. Treating trauma can improve physical and mental health and help prevent the development of serious psychological disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
