Repair of Femoral Neck Fracture

A femoral neck fracture is a break in the narrow part of the upper thighbone, near the hip. This can be caused by a high-impact fall, a sports injury, or an automobile accident. Repair of femoral neck fracture is a surgical procedure that involves realigning, or setting, the broken bone fragments and then holding them together with screws and plates. It is a relatively common surgical procedure done to restore the hip joint to its natural position, increasing stability, and reducing pain. The success of the repair surgery depends on the availability of healthy, adjacent tissue and the experience of the surgeon. Some people who have had repair of femoral neck fracture go on to have a full recovery and return to their previous level of activity, while some may experience permanent limitations.
