Plaquenil
Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) is an antimalarial medication used in the treatment and prevention of malaria. It is one of the most widely used drugs for malaria, as it has been safely used for more than 75 years. Plaquenil is also used to treat other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Sjogren's syndrome. Its mechanism of action is not yet fully understood, but it is believed to work by inhibiting the production of certain immune cells which are responsible for inflammation in the body. Thus, Plaquenil can reduce inflammation associated with many autoimmune conditions and help to minimize symptoms such as joint pain and fatigue. Additionally, some studies have suggested that Plaquenil use may help reduce the risk of certain cancers. As such, Plaquenil is an important and widely used medication for the treatment and prevention of malaria and other autoimmune conditions.
