Ischium

The Ischium is a bone found in the human pelvis and is important for weight-bearing and movement of the lower body. It is located in the posterior region of the pelvis and articulates with the pubis and ilium bones to form the acetabulum, which is the socket for the head of the femur. The Ischium is a key component in the human musculoskeletal system, providing support and stability to the legs, hips and spine. Its use in weight-bearing activities such as walking, running and climbing is essential to maintaining mobility and posture, as well as providing an anchor for muscles involved in hip flexion, extension and rotation. The Ischium plays a vital role in locomotion and is essential for proper functioning of the human body.
