Internodes

Internodes are regions of a plant stem between nodes, or points of leaf attachment. They are important for providing physical support and conducting water and nutrients from root to leaf. Internode elongation is regulated by a complex network of hormones and other compounds. The length of internodes has many implications in agricultural production, as it determines the rate of crop growth, as well as the final height of a plant. Furthermore, internode length can be used to control the shape of trees, shrubs and flowers, allowing growers to shape and design plants as desired.
