Chondroplasty

Chondroplasty is a surgical procedure used to reduce pain associated with joint problems such as arthritis and chondromalacia. During this procedure, a surgeon will remove a portion of the damaged joint cartilage, referred to as the articular cartilage, from the knee or other ailing joint. This cartilage can either be replaced or smoothed out. The purpose of a chondroplasty is to reduce joint pain and restore the joint's ability to move and function properly. It can also help reduce the severity of the joint's degenerative disease. Chondroplasties can be done on both adults and children and are relatively safe procedures that often offer immediate relief from joint pain.
