Bone Resorption
Bone resorption is a process in which calcium and other minerals are removed from bones, resulting in a breakdown of the bones. It is a crucial process in maintaining skeletal health and homeostasis. With age and certain health conditions, bone resorption can increase, which may lead to diseases like osteoporosis. To prevent this, doctors may prescribe medications that reduce bone resorption, such as bisphosphonates. Exercise can also be beneficial in maintaining bone health, as it stimulates the process of bone formation, which helps counteract resorption.
