Biomaterials

Biomaterials are materials with physical and chemical properties that are designed specifically to work in contact with living tissue. They are mostly used in medical research and applications, such as prosthetics, implants, surgical instruments, drug-delivery systems, and tissue regeneration. Biomaterials can improve human health by enabling the development of techniques that can create or restore function in damaged areas of the body, reduce the risk of infection, or prolong the life of medical devices. The use of biomaterials also helps reduce the cost of health care by providing more efficient, effective, and safe treatments.
