Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is a type of cardiovascular disease caused by the buildup of fatty plaque in the arteries. This buildup results in the hardening and narrowing of the artery walls, reducing the flow of blood, leading to a variety of health issues, including heart attack and stroke. Atherosclerosis is one of the leading causes of death in adults, and its treatment involves lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and quitting smoking. Medications may also be used to reduce the risk of developing atherosclerosis, as well as to manage existing conditions. The early diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis can help prevent serious complications, and may even save lives.
