Plant Cells
Plant cells are the basic unit of life in plants and are essential for growth and reproduction. They consist of a nucleus, cytoplasm, cell wall, and chloroplasts. The plant cell wall is composed of cellulose and other polysaccharides which provide a protective barrier and support for the cell. Chloroplasts are the organelles in plant cells that contain chlorophyll and are responsible for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy, which is then used to synthesize carbohydrates and other organic molecules. By providing the building blocks of life, plant cells are essential for human life and are a major contributor of food, oxygen, and other resources.
