Plant Biotechnology
Plant biotechnology is the application of modern molecular biological techniques to plants to improve their characteristics and increase yield. By manipulating the genetic material of plants, scientists can alter characteristics such as disease resistance, drought tolerance, nutraceutical content, and yield in a way that has not been possible before. Plants are also the source of a wide range of products, from food to pharmaceuticals, and plant biotechnology can offer a more efficient and sustainable alternative to traditional production methods. Plant biotechnology can play an important role in solving global challenges such as food security, energy, and climate change, as well as enabling more efficient and sustainable agriculture.
