Phylogeny

Phylogeny is the study of evolutionary relatedness among species, and it is a powerful way to identify and explain relationships between different organisms. The branches of a phylogenetic tree represent the history of species’ evolution, and allow scientists to trace the evolutionary history of life. Phylogeny is also used to classify species and provide evidence for evolution, and it is an important way to study how species are related to each other. Phylogeny helps us to understand the evolution of complex characteristics and to evaluate the likelihood of different outcomes of the evolutionary process. It has important applications in evolutionary biology, conservation, medicine, and biotechnology.
