Forensic Geophysics
Forensic geophysics is a scientific field using geophysical methods to detect, document and analyze evidence from a crime scene or other scene of interest. Geophysical techniques including aerial and ground-based remote sensing, gravity, electrical and magnetic surveys, that are used to identify and map subsurface anomalies. Such anomalies can indicate the presence of buried objects, human remains and other evidence that could help law enforcement in their investigations. Forensic geophysics provides an accurate, non-invasive, cost-effective method to assist in the search and documentation of scenes of interest. The use of geophysical techniques to support criminal investigations is increasing throughout the world.
