Dendroclimatology
Dendroclimatology is the study of climate change within the past centuries or millennia, based on growth records preserved in the tree rings. It is a powerful tool to provide insight into past climate conditions and to reconstruct past climate variability. This knowledge is of vital importance to consider historical perspective while dealing with the current pressing issues of global warming and climate change. Dendroclimatology not only helps to answer questions about environmental conditions in the distant past, but it also allows for the evaluation of current climate scenarios, as it can be used to better understand how climate could evolve in the future.
