Latent Fingerprint

Identification Latent fingerprint identification is a forensic science method used to identify individuals based on the patterns arising from friction ridge skin on the palms of the hands and feet, as well as the patterns of ridges on fingertips. This method of individual identification is used to establish a suspect’s identity in criminal cases, as well as to identify deceased individuals. Latent fingerprint identification is a highly accurate and reliable form of identification, and is often used in conjunction with other forms of forensic evidence such as DNA analysis. In addition, this technique has particular significance in that it is often used to link suspects to a crime scene. With the increasing use of fingerprint analysis technologies, latent fingerprint identification is becoming more precise and easier to use, making it an increasingly important tool for forensic investigators in solving cases.
