Forensic Toxicology

Forensic toxicology is the analysis of drugs and toxins to determine the cause of death or injury in a criminal investigation. It involves the analysis of body fluids, tissues and organs to detect the presence of poisons or other toxic substances. Through this, toxicologists can provide valuable clues to police, prosecutors and medical examiners as to why and how a person died, or if a crime has been committed. Forensic toxicology also plays an important role in ensuring public safety by identifying potentially hazardous substances in food, water and even air.
