Forensic Thanatology
Forensic thanatology is the study of death and its effects on the living. It is a valuable tool in uncovering the cause and manner of death, offering insight into both criminal and civil matters. Forensic thanatology involves the analysis of physical, chemical, and environmental factors post-mortem. It also applies to the investigation of fatalities caused by natural and human-induced events, such as accidents and homicides. Expertise from forensic thanatology can be used to help determine and explain the effects of such events on the victim and their physical remains. This knowledge and expertise can be used to help bring justice, closure, and understanding for the deceased and those left behind.
