Forensic Biology
Forensic biology is a field of science related to the identification of human remains through the analysis of biological material. It is a rapidly-evolving field, in which advances in molecular biology, genetics, and chemistry are allowing for more accurate and faster identification of biological material. Forensic biology techniques are often used in criminal investigations, specifically to positively identify individuals who may be a suspect or a victim, linking them to a crime, and providing evidence for court proceedings. Additionally, forensic biology methods are increasingly being used in a variety of other contexts such as in paternity and immigration cases, as well as in civil disputes. Overall, forensic biology provides valuable insight and is a powerful tool for identification, investigation, and prosecution of criminal acts.
