Forensic Biologist
Forensic biologists are scientists who study physical evidence from crime scenes and formulate opinions that help law enforcement investigate criminal cases. They specialize in DNA analysis, fingerprints, and other biological evidence used to determine the identity of suspects, victims, and other potential sources of evidence. This evidence can be collected through sampling and examination of trace evidence such as hair, fiber, and blood. They use various laboratory methods such as DNA profiling, microscopy, and electrophoresis to analyze samples and to determine the origin and identity of the evidence. The work of forensic biologists is essential in criminal investigations, as their work can provide conclusive evidence which helps to solve crimes, exonerate the innocent and bring closure to those affected by crime. As the technology of forensic biology evolves, this field of science becomes increasingly important in criminal justice.
