Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and some other organisms to convert light energy from the sun into chemical energy that can be used to fuel their metabolic processes. This energy conversion process is essential to life on Earth and is the basis of most food webs. Photosynthesis is responsible for producing oxygen in the air that we breathe, as well as providing an energy source for the plant and animal kingdom. Through photosynthesis, plants are able to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it into glucose, which can be used in various ways by the organism. Photosynthesis is not only important for the survival of plants, but for many other forms of life as well, as it is the primary source of food and oxygen.
