Nephrons

A nephron is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidney. It is composed of a glomerulus and a renal tubule. The glomerulus is a tuft of capillaries that is responsible for the filtration of the blood. The renal tubule is responsible for the reabsorption of needed substances from the glomerular filtrate and for the excretion of waste products. Nephrons play a key role in the regulation of blood pressure, water and electrolyte balance, and the production of urine. Nephrons are essential for the healthy functioning of the kidneys and the maintenance of overall health. Accumulation of toxins and waste in the body can lead to kidney disease, which can be life-threatening if left untreated. Proper hydration, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle are essential for keeping the nephrons healthy and functioning properly.
