Macromolecules

Macromolecules are large molecules composed of many smaller units, typically containing thousands of atoms. They play an important role in virtually all biological processes and are essential components of living organisms. Examples of macromolecules include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA. These molecules are critical for the formation and function of cells, tissues and organs, as well as for metabolic and reproductive activities. Macromolecules are also involved in the storage, transport and delivery of nutrients and energy in organisms. As such, their importance to life cannot be overstated.
