Enzymes
Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts in biochemical reactions, speeding up a reaction without being used up or changed in the process. They are essential to life, as they control the rate of chemical reactions, allowing the body to digest food, grow and repair itself, and interact with the environment. Enzymes are also used in industrial processes, such as detergent production and brewing beer, as well as in laboratories to study biological processes.
